Playlists
I make playlists in my spare time, and not to toot my own horn, but they’re JAMMING.
In all seriousness, playlists are one of my favorite mediums for storytelling and world building. Mine communicate ideas, human experiences, and scenarios musically. Here’s a bit of backstory on a few. Listen to all of them here.
My first published playlist was created as a means of catharsis following a tough four month period at the end of 2018.
That time was greatly defined by the untimely deaths of a cousin who was more like a brother, followed by my father. I turned 29-years-old and got into a serious car accident a day later in the midst of it all. And, somehow, I still managed to close the year with a life changing trip to Nigeria, which greatly shaped my perspective moving forward.

Songs are becoming shorter. Third verses are mostly a thing of the past. And sometimes, the same can be said for bridges – much to the chagrin of purists. But that doesn’t make music any less powerful.
In changing times, artists are finding ways to drop powerful songs in shorter mediums. And with that, we have a playlist aptly titled ‘Short Stories.’ [Spotify | Apple Music | TIDAL]
I made this in 2022, at a time when music felt really uninspiring. Even music that was technically “good” felt lacking in emotion. Rather than lean into my disappointment, I decided to lean into my fandom with a playlist curated to drum up emotions in me ad whoever decided to press play.

I can’t say that I’m a car guy, per se. But certain makes/models have always tickled my fancy. Some cars bring fond childhood memories of neighborhood figures who I admired. Others essential remind me of my favorite films.
Cars evoke moods, feelings. So I decided to create a proper soundtrack for cars with character. The songs I select are what I’d play while behind the wheel. And for the inaugural playlist, we have the classic 1975 Cadillac Seville. [Spotify | Apple Music | TIDAL]
The top of 2020 was heavy in a way that no one quite expected.
The untimely passing of a beloved legend, rising star, and, more personally, a classmate from undergrad, inspired me to create a playlist that doesn’t require you to think. [Spotify | Apple Music | TIDAL]
I created “We” in a season where a record amount of friends were getting engaged, married, and divorced. At the time, I was really intrigued by the idea of togetherness, and how evolves over time. How in its best moments, togetherness feels like a forever thing. But in more in sobering realities, things can change. [Spotify | Apple Music | TIDAL]
